Meet Karli

Karli Black, a lifelong resident of Utah County, is a passionate advocate for her community and a committed public servant. As the eldest of seven children, she has witnessed firsthand the transformation of Orem and Provo from orchard fields into vibrant centers of growth, with flourishing businesses and a thriving tech industry. Her deep roots in the area inspire her dedication to ensuring that all voices are heard and represented.

Karli’s journey into public service began at the age of 14, when she discovered her passion for government and political engagement through a Model United Nations class at Lakeridge Junior High. By 15, she was actively involved in the Utah Valley Youth Council, the Orem Youth Council, and Orrin Hatch’s Youth Advisory Committee. At just 16, she made her voice heard on the House floor, advocating for SB #39, which aimed to strengthen penalties for selling tobacco to minors. This experience not only provided her with invaluable insights into the legislative process but also solidified her resolve to be a part of the decision-making that shapes her community.

Karli’s path to politics is uniquely informed by her personal experiences. Facing health challenges that left her wheelchair-bound at 12, she navigated the complexities of obtaining affordable health care and became a single mother who sought government assistance to support her family. Her journey from relying on public programs to establishing her own successful business illustrates her resilience and commitment to transforming challenges into opportunities.

Now happily married and the mother of eight children, Karli continues to live in the community she loves. Together with her husband, she runs a successful commercial real estate brokerage, all while ensuring that her children receive a quality education in local schools. Her adult children are proud students at Utah Valley University, furthering the family’s commitment to educational achievement.
